HOPE MILLS – Marvin R.T. Parrish, 86, of Hope Mills, passed away Monday, May 30, 2011, in his home. Mr. Parrish was a World War II veteran with the US Army Air Corps. He was a longtime member of Hope Mills United Methodist Church and former president of the Highland Chapter of the AARP. He was also a former member of the Fayetteville Jaycees and the Fayetteville Exchange Club, as well as a lifetime honorary member of the Mid-Atlantic Newspaper and Marketing Executives. He retired after being employed for 29 years as advertising director with the Fayetteville Publishing Co. A memorial service will be held at noon Friday, June 3, 2011, at Hope Mills United Methodist Church with Dr. Dennis Sheppard officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Mr. Parrish leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Elizabeth Parrish; sons, Douglas Parrish and his wife, Susan, of Fayetteville, and Richard Parrish of Hope Mills; sister, Juanita Gilchrist and her husband, Al, of Winston-Salem; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
