04/01/2015 – President’s Column

Dear Mid-Atlantic N.A.M.E. Members:

Before I get started I want to thank the Board of Directors for asking me to serve a second term as your Mid-Atlantic President. I am truly honored to be among some of the most talented people in our industry. These are hard-working professionals who are committed to ensuring that we implement a dynamic program that grows stronger each year. We know this leads to membership growth, a primary goal of our organization. The positive feedback and comments we receive, validate that we are delivering on our promise which is to provide a solid ROI.

This year was no exception. Not only did our attendance surpass a five-year high, it was inspiring to see the fellowship and networking among members who were elated with the program. The conference theme was “So You Think You Can Sell” and as you can imagine most of the schedule was devoted to sales. Subjects ranged from, sales training, team structures, compensation and selling digital products. The program also offered a media and publishers panel, both of which were educational and informative. Our sponsors contributed a great deal as well, discussing native advertising, the importance of a good CRM and new innovative products to help meet revenue objectives. A program favorite is the Idea Exchange, an opportunity for our members to share and receive ideas that can be easily implemented at their newspaper. This year by far was the highest in participation and each paper came away with several “aha” moments.

As I stated earlier membership is key to our success. Please continue to reach out to prospective members to share the value of our organization and encourage other advertising leaders to join us at our annual conference in Winston-Salem, NC, April 28-30, 2016.

On behalf of the Mid-Atlantic N.A.M.E. Board, we welcome your input, know that we have a lot of work to do, and appreciate any support or ideas that you can give. Shaun Fogarty, The Virginian Pilot, is already working on developing another rewarding conference and if you have topics that you would like for us to include in the conference please contact him.

As I proceed into my second term, I look forward to working with you as we continue to raise the bar!

~Leslie
